Penny's Bay Quarantine Center Phase IV, comprising 306 quarantine units, was constructed by Aluhouse using the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) method. The prefabrication of the 306 modular units was completed in approximately 20 days. The facility is equipped with a medical station, an electromechanical room, and a Civil Aid Service post.
Each quarantine unit covers an area of approximately 18㎡, providing adequate space for one individual. The units are delivered fully furnished, featuring an independent bathroom, utilities, a single bed, a wardrobe, a dining table with chairs, and other essential amenities. Outdoor facilities include standalone sewage systems and covered walkways.
The overall design complies with the MiC building regulations set by the Hong Kong Buildings Department. In terms of construction materials, innovative decorative solutions such as aluminum alloy exterior and interior wall panels were employed. A vibrant color palette was incorporated into the design to create a lively and relaxed atmosphere within the quarantine center.
Additionally, the units can be relocated and repurposed for transitional housing or temporary accommodations in the future.
