Hong Kong SS N520 light public housing project—first batch of MiC modules delivered for hoisting

Recently, significant progress has been made in the SS N520 light Housing Project, supplied by the China State Construction Engineering Green Technology-AluHouse consortium. The first batch of MiC modules for Xiao Lan Le An Pai, Chai Wan Chang An Street, and Tuen Mun Area 54 have been successfully produced and delivered to construction sites in Hong Kong for installation. This progress marks a steady advancement of the SS N520 Simple Housing Project and will further facilitate the project's timely and high-quality delivery.

The SS N520 light public housing project, commissioned by the Hong Kong Architectural Services Department (ArchSD), will provide a comfortable living environment for grassroots families in Hong Kong upon completion. The project has a total construction area of approximately 251,000 square metres and is expected to offer nearly 16,000 MiC modules and close to 13,000 residential units, covering four sites: Siu Lam Lok Arrangement, Cheung Wan Cheung On Street/Cheung Ping Street, Tuen Mun Area 54, and Ma On Shan Heng Kwong Street.

As the MiC module supplier for the SS N520 light public housing project, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation Green Technology-AluHouse consortium adopts an advanced steel structure MiC technical solution, achieving an efficient parallel model of factory prefabrication and on-site construction of MiC modules.

The first batch of MiC modules shipped this time have each unit precisely prefabricated and assembled in the factory, integrating insulation, thermal insulation, fireproofing, water and electricity systems, enclosure systems, decoration and finishing, building equipment, and maintenance platforms, ensuring both the quality of the units and construction efficiency.

It is worth mentioning that AluHouse's Zhaoqing factory, located near a port, provides significant convenience for the logistics and transportation of MiC modules. Ms Ho Wing-yin, Director of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, stated on Facebook: "For the SS N520 Light Public Housing Project – Cheung Wan Cheung On site, the first batch of MiC components was delivered to the Hong Kong site via combined sea transport in just 21 hours, enabling a 'just-in-time' installation process. The lifting process was smooth and seamless, reflecting the industry's growing familiarity with the application of MiC."

The production and construction of the first batch of MiC components for the SS N520 light public housing rely on the strong partnership between AluHouse and China State Construction Technology, as well as their extensive experience and professional expertise in the modular integrated construction (MiC) sector in the Greater Bay Area. The China State Construction Technology Green Technology-AluHouse joint venture establishes dual competitive advantages through the 'industry chain and supply chain', facilitating deep exchanges in technology, resources, and experience. This complementary approach in project management, quality control, and cost management lays a solid foundation for the high-quality construction of the SS N520 light public housing project.

After the implementation of the SS N520 light public housing project, it will further provide grassroots families in Hong Kong with a more comfortable, safe, and environmentally friendly living environment, allowing more citizens to enjoy the convenience and comfort brought by MiC technology.

Next, the China State Construction Engineering Green Technology-AluHouse joint venture will continue to complete the remaining MiC module production and manufacturing work according to the established schedule, with deliveries commencing gradually in the second quarter of 2025, fully advancing the construction of the SS N520 Light Public Housing Project and building happy homes for more families in Hong Kong.
