Recently, the Fo Tan Au Pui Wan Primary School project in Hong Kong, supported by AluHouse's MiC concrete structure technology, has celebrated the successful topping-out. The installation on site took only 28 days.
The design and construction of the project adhere strictly to rigorous standards and regulations, striving to provide students with a high-quality learning environment and comfortable living space. It will further advance the field of educational architecture in Hong Kong, ushering in a new stage of industrialisation and modernisation.

Hong Kong Fo Tan Au Pui Wan Primary School, located at Au Pui Wan Street, Fo Tan, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, is the first school project in Hong Kong to feature a fair-faced concrete frame MiC structure. The project is commissioned by the Hong Kong Architectural Services Department, with Luen Lee Construction as the contractor, and will become a modern campus upon completion.

The project consists of 164 MiC modules, with a total construction area of approximately 2,893㎡, forming a five-storey building that cleverly integrates six major functional modules: classrooms, corridors, toilets, pantries, roof spaces, and balconies. In terms of educational facility planning, 24 classrooms are scientifically arranged, each accommodating 30 students, providing up to 700 educational places and fully meeting educational needs.

The project consists of 164 MiC modules, with a total construction area of approximately 2,893㎡, forming a five-storey building that cleverly integrates six major functional modules: classrooms, corridors, toilets, pantries, roof spaces and balconies. In terms of educational facility planning, 24 classrooms are scientifically arranged, each accommodating 30 students, providing a total of up to 700 educational places, fully meeting educational needs.

In terms of supporting facilities, Lü Youjia possesses a set of advanced energy-saving and environmentally friendly Twin-120 type mixing stations, equipped with mobile batching equipment, an automated rebar processing line, as well as mixing stations and standardised laboratories certified by Hong Kong QSPSC. With strong supply and production capabilities, it can efficiently produce concrete MiC prefabricated modules, as well as prefabricated external walls, staircases and other components, with a production cycle of only 15 days per module, ensuring efficient project progression and high-quality completion.

In terms of technological innovation, the project adopts a concrete frame MiC structural system, enhancing the overall prefabrication rate, reducing on-site casting and manual finishing processes, thereby accelerating construction progress and improving the level of industrialisation. Based on an integrated construction model, AluHouse innovatively uses full aluminium alloy moulds for casting, achieving integrated building formation, easy assembly and disassembly, environmental friendliness, and a high rate of reuse.
In addition, AluHouse faced challenges head-on and successfully overcame the technical difficulties in constructing fair-faced concrete. Not only did it meet the complex requirements of the striated wall finish, but through precise cutting and decorative techniques, it also brought out a unique brilliance on the fair-faced concrete surface, transforming it into a modern and artistically expressive campus.

A modern campus, with the structural design of its buildings, can inversely influence changes in learning methods.
